FRONTERAS Collective members present at POLLEN 2026
Paula Cepeda Mahecha, Silvia de Melo Futada, Laura Botero Arellano, Michael Esbach, and Joel Correia travelled to Barcelona to share their work at the Political Ecology Network conference.
Several members of the FRONTERAS Collective traveled to Barcelona, Spain to share their work and revel in the conviviality of one of the best conferences around — POLLEN, the Political Ecology Network.
Paula Cepeda Mahecha presented a paper co-authored with Joel Correia titled "Theoretical, conceptual, and practical limitations of nature-based solutions: exploring alternatives from decolonial feminist political ecology."
Silvia de Melo Futada presented the paper "Waimiri Atroari (Political) ecologies: Relational governance beyond colonial infrastructures."
Laura Botero Arellano presented a paper co-authored with Francisco Sanchez titled "Reimagining territory: Embodied storytelling, extractive violence, and Indigenous Uwottüja counter-mappings in the Amazon."
Michael Esbach presented the paper co-authored with Cesar Payaguaje and Joel Correia titled "Game masters, reciprocity, and territorial care: Indigenous-led conservation in the Amazon."
And, Joel Correia presented a paper co-authored with Clemente Dermott titled "From colonial natures to entangled ecologies: Making do and relational geographies of Indigenous resurgence in the Chaco."
All of the papers presented are either published or in the process of preparation for submission. We look forward to sharing the works with you and would love to talk more about these topics if they are of interest.
