What this site collects.

Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics to count visits and to see which pages people actually read. It is the only thing on these pages loaded from another company.

Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser. Through them Google receives the page you are on, the page or search that brought you here, your approximate location, your browser and device, and a randomly generated identifier that lets it recognise the same browser on a later visit. What reaches us is the aggregate: how many people read a page, roughly where they are, what brought them. We do not use it to identify anyone, and we do not combine it with anything else.

What Google does with that data is governed by Google's privacy policy rather than by ours. If you would rather not be counted, Google publishes a browser opt-out add-on that switches it off on every site you visit; your browser's own tracking protection, or any script blocker, has the same effect here.

What this site does not do

There are no advertising trackers, no social media pixels, no session recording, and nothing that attempts to fingerprint your device. We do not build profiles of visitors, and we do not sell or share anything about you. Apart from the analytics described above, this site sets no cookies of its own and asks nothing of you that you do not type into the contact form.

Server logs

The site is hosted on Netlify, which keeps standard server logs — IP address, browser user agent, and the pages requested. These are Netlify's records, retained under their policy, and we use them only in aggregate to understand whether the site is working. See Netlify's privacy policy.

Fonts

Typefaces are served from this site itself, so loading a page here makes no request to Google Fonts or to any other type foundry. Analytics, above, is the only thing these pages load from elsewhere.

The contact form

If you use the form on the About page, what you type is delivered to us through Netlify Forms and stored in the site's Netlify account. We use it to reply to you and for nothing else. Ask us to delete a submission and we will. If you would prefer to avoid the form entirely, email joel.correia@colostate.edu directly.

Links out

This site links to journals, publishers, funders, university pages, and social platforms. Once you follow a link you are subject to that site's practices, not ours.

Research data

Nothing on this site is a route into our research data. Data generated through our projects is governed by the agreements we hold with the communities and institutions we work with — including, where partners have required it, explicit provisions on Indigenous data sovereignty. Those agreements are separate from this website and are not affected by it.
