Where do we grow from here?
Reflections from the 2026 Global Conference on Environmental Justice and the Politics of Hope in the Planetary Age, hosted by the Center for Environmental Justice at CSU.
Amazing turnout last week for the 2026 Global Conference "Where do we grow from here? Environmental Justice and the Politics of Hope in the Planetary Age," hosted by the Center for Environmental Justice at Colorado State University. It was a lot of work to organize and host — I was part of the team, not the lead — but I left feeling inspired and energized by the important work of the folks who showed up to engage the moment.
At the conference I presented a recent article co-authored with Fernando Galeana Rodriguez and published in the Journal of Latin American and Caribbean Ethnic Studies: "Anti-colonial environmental justice in, of, and from Latin America." The article introduces a special issue we coordinated on contemporary environmental justice movements and scholarship.
